Chris Carr – A Greener Future for Simcoe North
Chris Carr is a problem solver, a lifelong learner, and a passionate advocate for sustainable communities. As the Green Party candidate for Simcoe North, he is committed to building a future where people and nature thrive together. With a deep respect for history and global solutions, Chris believes that government should be a force for good—helping people live with dignity while protecting the environment for future generations.
A Career of Innovation and Impact
With a background in technology, Chris has spent his career tackling real-world challenges. He worked with the BC Ministry of Education to transform the K-12 curriculum and collaborated with the BC Ministry of Forests and Alberta Ministry of Natural Resources to track wildfires and support the crews that fight them. He thrives on complex challenges, using innovation to create practical solutions.
Chris has participated in high-profile sustainability initiatives, including the global Water Abundance XPrize, where his team worked to extract drinkable water from the atmosphere. As a top 15 finalist in Canada’s Open Data CODE 2014 hackathon, he showcased a childhood injury prevention app to government ministers. His passion for learning extends to mentorship—he has spent five years volunteering with Technovation, helping young women explore careers in technology.
Sustainability in Action
Chris doesn’t just talk about sustainability—he lives it. He has been actively involved in community gardening, even helping to establish a new garden, and practices vermiculture composting at home and work to reduce waste. He believes that small, local actions—like growing food and cutting waste—can have a big impact when embraced by communities.
Deep Roots in Community and Family
Chris grew up in Victoria, BC, where he spent time with his grandparents on the lighthouse at Discovery Island. His wife, an early childhood educator, is from the Midland area, and in 2021, they returned to Simcoe North to be closer to family. Their four children are Métis, and Indigenous culture is an integral part of their family life.
A Track Record of Grassroots Engagement
Chris is no stranger to political action. In 2018, he ran as a candidate in Kitchener Centre with the None of the Above Party, knocking on doors, gathering signatures, and engaging directly with voters despite limited resources. He later supported Green MP Mike Morrice’s 2021 campaign and was an active volunteer for Krystal Brooks’ 2022 Simcoe North campaign, ensuring Green voices were heard.
Now, as the Green Party candidate for Simcoe North, Chris is ready to bring his experience, vision, and hands-on approach to the community. He believes in practical, people-focused solutions—whether it’s protecting local ecosystems, fostering green jobs, or ensuring access to clean water.
